In this lesson, students will learn about the importance of digital clocks and being able to read and write time properly. Students will watch a video about clocks, explaining how to read time. Then, students will complete several activities including a memory game.

Students will be able to properly read and write time to the nearest minute using digital clocks.


Students will review what digital clocks are and write three things they already know about digital clocks.


Begin the lesson by having students watch a video about telling time. Have students write three things they would like to learn about digital clocks. Inform students about how digital clocks work and how to properly read them. Students will then listen to different times using our text-to-speech tool and match them to the correct corresponding written time. They will then listen to times again and set a digital clock to match. Teach students all about different phrases used when reading time, such as “half past,” “o’clock,” and “quarter to.” Students play a memory game matching different written times.


Students respond to ten multiple-choice questions. First, they will listen to a time and choose the correct corresponding written time. They will also choose between various digital clocks.


Students will circle the time that is shown on each digital clock and uncover the correct answers.
