Friendship is an important part of life because friends stick with us through good and bad. This lesson discusses some of the qualities a good friend displays and what it looks like to be a good friend to somebody else.

Learning objective

This lesson will teach students how to be good friends to one another.

Review what a friend is. How do you know someone is your friend?

The golden rule of friendships and relationships, in general, is to treat others the way you'd like to be treated. When thinking about our friendships, we should remember that friends also go through good and bad times, and that we should be mindful of their feelings and considerate of them.

At the end of this lesson, students are asked to reflect:
- What does it mean to be a good friend?
- Why is being a good friend important?
- What is the Golden Rule?

The closing activity of this lesson involves the wheel spinner and four qualities: loyalty, support, love, and kindness. Spin the wheel and think of an example of what it would look like to display these qualities in a friendship.
