Understanding 3D shapes can be tricky for students—especially when working from flat images. That’s why Gynzy is introducing new 3D shapes to the shapes menu. You can now insert and interact with shapes like the cube, cone, sphere, cylinder, pyramid, pudding, and more, right on your digital whiteboard.

These additions make it easier to explore geometry concepts visually, helping students understand volume, faces, edges, and perspectives.

What’s new in the shapes menu

This update includes several 3D models and a few highly requested 2D shapes. Here's what's available:

3D shapes:

  • Cube

  • Cylinder

  • Cone

  • Sphere

  • Half-sphere

  • Pyramid (4- and 3-sided)

  • Pudding shape (truncated cone)

New 2D shapes:

  • Dashed line (ideal for annotations or separating sections)

  • Heart

  • Star

You’ll find these shapes in the updated shape menu, and they work just like other whiteboard objects—you can resize, move, and duplicate them to suit your lesson.

Why this helps in the classroom

3D shapes support spatial thinking and help students connect flat representations with real-world objects. This is especially useful when introducing:

  • Geometric solids

  • Volume and surface area

  • Mathematical vocabulary like face, edge, and vertex

It’s a simple way to make math more concrete and engaging for all learners.

Practical classroom examples

Build vocabulary with visual references
Display a cube, cone, and pyramid on the board. Ask students to name each shape, describe the number of faces, and draw similar objects they see around them.

Make math more interactive
Use the 3D shapes to demonstrate real-life examples. For instance, show how a pudding shape relates to cups or containers used at home. Invite students to match 3D shapes with objects from the classroom.

Designed for interactive learning

These shapes are built for use on the interactive whiteboard, encouraging active student participation. Whether you’re labeling shapes, comparing solids, or building math vocabulary, you now have the tools to do it all—visually and interactively.
