This lesson will help students learn how to recognize and print the letter Xx. They will have an extreterrestrial guide for the lesson.

Learning objective
Students will be able to recognize and print the letter Xx, as well as determine if a word has an Xx sound.
Introduction
Students will match uppercase letters they've previously learned to their animal guides to reveal their animal guide, Xavier the Extraterrestrial. They will review how to write the letter XX.
Instruction
Xavier the Extraterrestrial will have Max demonstrate how to write the letter Xx. Students will then practice writing uppercase and lowercase Xx on the board and on their own paper. Two students can race to complete a puzzle that makes the letter Xx.
Students will then practice pronouncing words with Xx sounds. They will get to name as many words that start with the letter Xx as they can think of! They’ll also get to use their letter Xx knowledge to complete a fun activity that will help Xavier the Extraterrestrial beat his friend, Alf, at tic-tac-toe.

Closing
Students will review how to write the letter Xx and then decorate the letter Xx. Challenge your students with an 8-piece puzzle!
