Students will learn the multiplication properties for times zero and times one fact. They will use this property to solve equations with zeros and ones in them.

Students will be able to solve times 0 and times 1 multiplication facts.
Introduction
Students review the identity property for addition and relate that to the use of math properties for multiplication. They will discuss that these properties work on numbers of any size, not just the basic facts.
Instruction
This lesson begins with defining the zero property of multiplication with an example. Students complete activities where they spot when the property is being used. They also practice completing equations that use this property. Next, the identity property of multiplication by one is defined with an example. The students practice by drawing out equations and identifying equations by the property they are using. They learn that the multiples of one are the numbers in order. An additional exercise has them top ice cream with cherry to math equations with their answer. The lesson continues with two story problems applying the properties that they learned about,

Closing
Students will complete a fact drill competition practicing these facts.
