In this lesson, students will learn the basic organization of cells. Students will differentiate between multicellular and unicellular organisms. They will also learn the various levels of cell complexity (cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, organisms).

Learning objective
Students will be able to describe how the body is a set of subsystems containing cells.
Introduction
Students will observe pictures of cells under a microscope and identify whether they are animal or plant cells.
Instruction
Students will be introduced to unicellular and multicellular organisms. They will discuss the benefits of being multicellular and unicellular. They will then discuss the five levels of organization for cells in multicellular organisms. Next, they will do a short activity researching a multicellular organism. They will write out the levels of the organisms and the function of each of those levels.

Review cell organization with 8 multiple-choice and 2 true/false questions.
Closing
Students will recall what they learned in the lesson and complete an exit slip where they imagine what a sixth level of organization would be.
