In this lesson, students will learn the pictures and text should match. They will do several activities to practice this, including putting picture stories in order, writing sentences about pictures, and drawing pictures that match sentences.

Learning objective
Students will be able to with prompting and support, describe the relationship between illustrations and the story in which they appear.
Introduction
Students will look at groups of objects and write a word phrase to describe each. They will also circle details that describe a picture of a girl sitting at her desk at school. Explain why it is important for students to know how to use pictures to help understand stories.
Instruction
Students will put a picture story of snow and a snowman melting in order. They will also read a story about the rain and drag the pictures in the correct order. Students will look at pictures of a caterpillar, cocoon, and butterfly, and write one or two sentences about them as a class.
Explain that the pictures and the words in a text have to match. Students will read a sentence and choose the image that matches. Next, they will write sentences that match pictures. They will also read a sentence and draw a picture that matches it.
Quiz
Students will answer ten questions. They are asked to identify a common feature of given images, to sort images into sequence order, to match image and text, and to identify if text matches a given image.
Closing
Students will recall what they learned:
- Why is it important to look at the pictures when you read?
- Do the pictures and words in a text have to match?
Students will look at a picture of a rocket and the moon, and come up with a story about it.
